Aflam, an association that has been working since 2000 to promote films from Arab countries to all audiences, is organising the 8th edition of its International Film Festival, which will be held online from 26 March to 4 April 2021.

During these meetings, 20 films will be proposed - as well as 3 podcasts - around 3 transversal themes:

> Traces of the revolution and stories of struggle

> What remains of the colonies? Filmmakers' views and investigations

> Palestine: The story is not over

"Traces of the Revolution and Stories of Struggle" takes stock of the Arab revolts in images. The exile of a Syrian youth disillusioned by ten years of unresolved conflicts answers the disarray of a repressed youth in the films shot in Egypt and Tunisia. In spite of the dark picture of repression, the wind of freedom that blew in 2011 is causing other seeds of revolt to sprout in 2019: this continuity is perceptible through a film that bears witness to this desire to change the state of things in Sudan.

"What remains of the colonies? Regards et enquêtes de cinéastes" gives space to the intimate and committed investigation of a new generation of filmmakers on the history of their parents and their lineage. Armed with their cameras, the filmmakers, through investigation, diary or correspondence, contribute to freeing memories while renewing the forms of narratives.

"Palestine: The Story Is Not Over" honours this resilient and resistant country with a selection of films with very diverse formal proposals giving an overview of the reality of Palestinians today, whether they were born under occupation or in exile.
