A filmmaker writes to the young daughter of a friend living in New Caledonia where, together, they shot a film a few years earlier. The filmmaker writes with his words, images, voice. He speaks of distance, of memories from the place and above all of cinema. The theoretical and critical experience of Jean-Louis Comolli allows him to better understand the fundamental nature of cinema, the true subject of this letter.
