AISSATOU, 11 years old, is an only daughter. Her kitten is her only friend. She spends her days helping her mother sell worthless products in front of an elementary school. She is fascinated by schoolchildren her age and dreams of being one of them. When she tells her father of her desire to go to school, he flatly refuses.
