Michael is a black A-list student at West-Berry High School. His parents believed this would be helpful for him to experience different people from all walks of life. Michael goes to class, does his job and participates to the best of his ability. Unfortunately, this makes Michael an "Oreo". Whenever he responds or does something good or profound, he is undermined by his black peers. These experiences cause Michael to have a severe identity crisis in which he begins to question his "darkness". Michael often excludes himself from black and white students or from activities associated with the two. He keeps going to class but is just following the movement. All of this comes to an abrupt end when a traumatic experience solidifies his identity. So he has to make a choice about how to continue living his life after this experience.

Michael è uno studente nero di serie A al liceo West-Berry. I suoi genitori credevano che questo sarebbe stato utile per lui per sperimentare persone diverse da tutti i ceti sociali. Michael va in classe, fa il suo lavoro e partecipa al meglio delle sue capacità. Sfortunatamente, questo rende Michael un "Oreo". Ogni volta che risponde o fa qualcosa di buono o profondo, viene minato dai suoi coetanei neri. Queste esperienze fanno sì che Michael abbia una grave crisi di identità in cui inizia a mettere in discussione la sua "oscurità". Michael spesso si esclude dagli studenti bianchi e neri o dalle attività associate ai due. Continua ad andare in classe ma sta semplicemente seguendo il movimento. Tutto questo si interrompe bruscamente quando un'esperienza traumatica consolida la sua identità. Quindi deve fare una scelta su come continuare a vivere la sua vita dopo questa esperienza.
