Presentation
I have always been interested in art and creation. As a teenager, I started by painting and went in an art school. Then I discovered photography and video. First I wrote short stories as the narrative bases for my videos. Then my desire for fiction got stronger, and I began to write scripts. In 2009, I directed L'ignorance invincible, a short film co-produced by Shellac Sud and the G.R.E.C, and everything became clear. My work evolved to a more narrative cinema, without forgetting its origins, and I met the producer who accompanies me since then. My movies are contemplative dramas about youth, its beauty, its sensuality and its violence in its relation to a group and to loneliness. I work with young non-professional actors, get inspired by them to improve my characters, to find the accurate words, attitudes and feelings. The scenes of naturalist dialogues, where beings are searching for their identities and confronting to the others, coexist with scenes where the bodies are weightless, in communion with nature.
For me it is important to tell stories, to take time to talk to other people, to meet people, to create links, and to describe the link that connects us to others and to the world. Beyond the story, my interest is to depict feelings, emotions, frames of mind. I am also in search of beauty and sense. Where beauty is not as the aspect of things, but the essence, the reality, the desires and dreams that compose us. I like to be alone to write, read and think, but I like even more to share with others about the story and its characters, the pictures. I am very concerned with the promise we made in believing in a world to create it. I admire the way both those who take part in the creation of a movie and the viewers can abandon themselves to feel collective emotions.
